FRONTLINE SOILDERS LEADS THE WAY THROUGH THE PANDEMIC

BY-  STAFF REPORTER

Kolkata, 27th October: UN secretary-general Antonio Guterres praised medical practitioners for their work throughout this pandemic. The frontline soldiers in the battle against COVID-19 are doctors, nurses and other medical staff. In hospitals, they are treating the patient while outside they are screening possible COVID-19 cases- putting their lives on the line. Sources have confirmed that a number of them already contracted the coronavirus and died across the world.

Covid-19 is highly infectious thus doctors and paramedical staff need to wear personal protective equipment or PPE which comprises of protective clothing, goggles, gloves etc. The protective gears have to be discarded after one use but is in short supply initially reported from various places across the country. Hence there is a shortage causing them to work continuously for 12 hours.

They have been complaining of dehydration and headache due to the gruelling schedule. India is a hot and humid place, despite that hospitals are switching off ACs and fans to prevent the virus from spreading. On top of that, the thick protective gear causes excessive sweating leading to Hyperhydrosis, a skin infection.

Prime minister rightly reserved the highest praise for India's doctors, nurses and other healthcare workers by calling them, Frontline soldiers. All of us need to support them as they are holding the line against Covid-19.
